Background

The client is a full-service importer, wholesaler and distributor of ambient temperature and frozen Japanese style foods to restaurants and other food related businesses throughout the UK and Europe. Its premises serve as a logistics hub for distribution to customers, with a dedicated fleet of its own temperature-controlled vehicles providing delivery to customers in London the UK and beyond and third-party logistics providers coming on site to manager deliveries to more distant customers. It is a busy site with a lot of vehicle and pedestrian movement that raises complex security considerations. The ability to capture and record high resolution images was a key consideration for the client.

Securus Solution

The site was a large and complex environment with the need to provide security coverage of internal and external locations, loading bays, staff areas, offices and canteen areas, as well as across the ambient and frozen storage areas. In total, over 50 CCTV cameras had to be installed or moved and the recording solution upgraded to handle the additional channels.

Securus were provided with plans of the location and buildings, enabling detailed security plans to be produced, providing coverage of all site and building access points. Our system specification addressed various security and privacy considerations as well as the practical implications arising from sensitive areas and areas with high vehicle movement, which necessitated careful consideration of the most appropriate locations for specific cameras.

Our solution provided for:

  • A new Uniview 16 bay hard disk drive 128 channel Network Recorder
  • 16 new Uniview 8mp IP Fixed Turret Cameras
  • 36 Uniview 8 Mp Network Tri-Guard Fixed Bullet Cameras
Uniview NVR
Uniview CCTV camera

In addition, a number of existing cameras were moved and we were able to reuse the majority of the existing infrastructure to provide a cost saving for the client.

All of the work was backed up with an ongoing preventative maintenance programme to ensure the system remained fully operational to support the clients operations. The client has subsequently requested a small number of additional cameras be installed to deal with changes in their operating methods. These were easily incorporated into the existing architecture which had sufficient capacity to manage the addition cameras.

Outcome

All work was caried out in accordance with the agreed system design proposal and timelines. The system was commissioned and full training provided to the client to ensure their operations staff were fully briefed on how to utilise the new cameras and access recordings as required. Ongoing system servicing was scheduled in the line with the agreed Care Plan.
